ISM and Safety Management System (SMS) TrainingThe ISM and Safety Management System (SMS) training is designed to provide comprehensive understanding of the vessels’ Safety Management System (SMS) as a part of the International Safety Management Code. The course syllabus includes principles of the ISM and focuses on the SMS requirements and procedures.

Objective:

The key objective of the training is:

• Introduce participants to the ship’s Safety Management System in the context of the ISM code and other relevant regulations such as MARPOL, SOLAS, etc.;
• Explain duties and responsibilities of the crew members in maintaining SMS requirements and following SMS/ISM procedures;
• Ensuring that upon completion of the course participants adhere to vessel safety and emergency procedures;
• Promoting the importance of the timely technical maintenance of the vessel equipment and following pollution prevention procedures as per SMS requirements.

• ISM Code, Content and Objectives;
• ISM Code implementation in the Safety Management System (SMS);
• Safety and Environmental Protection Procedures;
• Company Authority, Responsibility, DPA;
• Master’s Authority and Responsibility;
• Duties and responsibilities of the crew;
• Emergency procedures and Contingency Plan;
• SMS audit and Non-conformity report;
• Vessel and equipment maintenance;
• Documentation and reports.

Target Audience: Deck and Engine officers, ratings.

Pre-requisites: None.

Duration: 1 – 2 days.
