The Dive Medical Technician is an important training focused on diver specific injures and hyperbaric chamber treatment. The course program also includes theoretical modules, gas physics review and practical assessment and treatment session. The training tends to be physically demanding too since some modules are taught in the hyperbaric chamber when it is under pressure.

Objective:

The key objective of the Dive Medical Technician course is to ensure that dive teams are provided with the competent medical personnel:

• Able to extend an adequate first aid in case of a diving emergency;
• Is skilled in diving medicine and hyperbaric operations;
• Assess and treat diving illnesses and conditions;
• Support dive team not only at surface, but during saturation diving operations.

Course content:

• Diver physiology and anatomy review;
• Body substance isolation and hygiene requirement;
• Documentation and record keeping;
• Diver Medic professional skills review;
• Diving Physics & Gas features;
• Initial assessment of casualty and Vital Signs;
• Role and duties of the Diver Medic;
• Oxygen administration and necessary equipment;
• Injuries to the bones, muscles and joints;
• Soft tissue injuries;
• Bleeding & Shock;
• Environmental / Marine Injuries;
• Cardiac & Respiratory Arrest;
• DCS, Neuro Exam & Rx Tables;
• Barotraumas & Diving illnesses;
• Hyperbaric chamber operations;
• Saturation Diving medical problem.

Target Audience: Experienced commercial divers and supervisors who would like to broaden their specialization to Dive Medical Technician.
