This course is developed for the Deck Ratings Forming a Part of Navigational Watch and complies with the requirements of Table A-II/4 of the STCW Convention. The training provides an all-round understanding of navigational duties of junior bridge personnel together with developing profound practical skills of Deck Watchkeeping on the simulator.

Objective:

Upon completion of the Deck Watchkeeping course students are expected to master basic principles of watchkeeping stated in the STCW Code i.e. be able to steer the vessel safely, keep a proper look out including with the use of navigational systems, understand commands in English and demonstrate competence in operation of ship emergency equipment.

Course content:

• Watchkeeping procedures;
• Bridge equipment and navigational systems;
• Steering and helm orders;
• Emergency procedures and equipment.

Target Audience: Deck Ratings Forming a Part of Navigational Watch.

Pre-requisites: Basic Safety Training (BST) certificate and 6 month of confirmed sea-going experience.
