The ECDIS Type Specific (Wartsila SAM Electronics) training is designed to ensure safe and competent navigation of vessels equipped with Wärtsilä SAM Electronics ECDIS Chartpilot system. The course should be taken by navigational officers of all levels planning to work on this equipment on the base of ECDIS Generic training as per the STCW 2010 convention requirements.

Objective:

The key goal of the ECDIS Type Specific (Wartsila SAM Electronics) course is to provide detailed description of navigational functions of the ECDIS Chartpilot system and special features in equipment settings. Delegates also learn to conduct necessary license and chart management and recognize important alarms sent by the system.

Course content:

• Menu structure of the Wartsila SAM Electronics ECDIS;
• Setting up the display;
• Track planning and monitoring;
• Charts management;
• License update and backup arrangement;
• Recognition of alarms.

Target Audience: Deck officers (management and operational levels) assigned to vessels furnished with Wartsila SAM Electronics ECDIS system.

Pre-requisites: valid ECDIS Course (Generic) certificate.

Duration: 1 – 3 days.
