The Towcon RT is Rolls-Royce manufactured system consisting of both necessary control handlers/keyboard and software which allows operating and monitoring large winches onboard of offshore vessels.  The Towcon RT, AHT Winch – Operator Training is a one day course the company provides for mastering operation and some basic maintenance of the system.

Objective:

After completion of the Towcon RT, AHT Winch – Operator Training delegates should be able to identify system’s layout and integral parts; name basic functions and operational principles; be able to operate Towcon RT safely and at full capacity.

Course content:

• General description of Towcon RT system;
• Main functions and operation modes;
• Remote control of winches from bridge including system and components, operator/user functions, graphical views of main winch and components for applicable vessel;
• Training in customizing and testing control and monitoring systems;
• Operating Towcon RT system in dome simulator;
• Maintenance exercises in a workshop.

Assessment: No formal assessment is included.

Target Audience: Bridge and Engine officers occupying the position of winch operator on vessels furnished with Towcon RT system and other Rolls-Royce Safer Deck Operations equipment.
