The Offshore Crane Operator – Stage 3 Competence Assessment is an internationally recognized standard of professional qualification for offshore crane operators. Certified assessor arrives at candidate’s workplace to evaluate demonstration of extensive theoretical knowledge and practical overside lifting.

Objective:

The key objective of Offshore Crane Operator – Stage 3 international assessment is to ascertain that candidate has achieved certain level of professionalism in crane operations to conduct vessel to vessel lifting unsupervised safely and efficiently.

Assessment content:

The duration of the Offshore Crane Operator – Stage 3 Assessment depends on the company cycle (availability of crane, OSV, crew, weather conditions, etc.), but must be completed within one trip/ hitch. Duration of written examination is approx. 1.5 hour. Then, the Assessor accompanies candidate to the crane cab for the practical part which includes but isn’t limited to:

• Description of role and responsibilities of the crane operator  with the view of present international industry legislation;
• Ability to identify and describe functions of crane’s integral parts and controls;
• Limitations of operated crane;
• Load chart of the operated crane and competence in work with it;
• Knowledge of load indicators; static and dynamic modes;
• Wire ropes fitted to the operated crane including winches and luffing;
• Practical crane operations.

Target Audience: Experienced crane operators requiring international standard certificates.

Pre-requisites: Minimum 50 hours of supervised overside lifting crane operations reflected in the logbook.

Duration: 1 day.

Validity: 2 years.
