The IDSA Level 3 (Surface Supplied Air Offshore) course is developed for the experienced Commercial divers progressing to the next level of IDSA certification system. It presupposes competent dives in onshore and offshore conditions to the depths to 50 – 60 m using both SCUBA and surface supplied air equipment as well as wet bell and hot suit.

Objective:

On completion of the IDSA Level 3 (Surface Supplied Air Offshore) training students are expected to:

• Plan and execute safe intervention to the depths down to 60 m;
• Perform pre-dive checking of the air breathing system, decompression chamber and wet bell;
• Recognize and adhere to safety and emergency protocols developed for offshore dives;
• Perform commercial dive and underwater operations safely and competently.

Course content:

• Pre-dive planning and safety calculations;
• Equipment checking and maintenance;
• Hyperbaric chamber operations;
• Planning and carrying out the dive;
• Wet bell and hot suit;
• Hydraulic works;
• Underwater welding and cutting;
• Offshore construction operations;
• Diving installations and systems;
• Emergency procedures and rescue.

Target Audience: IDSA Level 2 divers upgrading to Offshore Commercial Diver qualification.

Pre-requisites: Might differ depending on the training provider, but in general the list includes:

• Medical examination with the hyperbaric specialist;
• Physical test including swimming 400 m in less than 15min, diving to 25 m breath-holding and without flippers, compression test at a depth of not less than 30 m (4 ATA) under the supervision of a hyperbaric chamber operator and a team chief in a hyperbaric chamber and a static apnea test of 1 minute.
• Some recognized First Aid Provider qualification as well as Oxygen Provider certificate is required either.

Duration: Up to 8 weeks.
