IADC Supervisor LevelThe IADC WellSharp Well Control Supervisor Level course is an advanced training program which features more subtle methods of Blow out Prevention (BOP) and is targeted at Supervisor level personnel of drilling units, senior management of drilling companies and well-design engineers. The course is a combination of theoretical practical simulator sessions followed by IADC WellSharp assessment.

Objective:

The key goals of the IADC WellSharp Well Control Supervisor Level course are:

• Professional performance of a variety of well control calculations;
• Describe correlation between gas migration and wellbore pressures;
• Define possible causes of kick for on-bottom and off-bottom conditions;
• Ability to shut-in a well despite of operational conditions;
• Filling in kill sheets for vertical and deviated wells correctly;
• Demonstrate profound knowledge of well control requirements for surface and subsea operations;
• Define methods of well killings;
• During practical task select the correct method of well killing, instruct the driller and kill the well successfully.

Course content:

• Drilling theory: well planning, completion, fluids programme, etc;
• Well control overview;
• Mud and pit management;
• Slow circulation rates, pre-kill kick sheets, kill line fluids;
• How to detect an abnormal pressure;
• Casing and cementing – kick prevention during drilling;
• Importance of barriers;
• Tophole gas drilling;
• Kick detection and shut-in techniques;
• Well control methods;
• Well control equipment.

Assessment: Candidates should choose either “Combined” (Surface and Subsea) or “Surface only” BOP stack certification scheme. There will be the written and practical simulator tasks at the end of the IADC WellSharp Well Control Supervisor Level course. The online written assessment must be completed with the 70% score or more to obtain the IADC certificate.

Target Audience: the list of the recommended positions for the course includes Tool Pushers, OIMs, Drilling Engineers, Drilling Supervisors and equivalent or higher positions.

Pre-requisites: the availability of the IADC WellSharp Well Control Driller Level or equivalent certificate is assumed, but is not a mandatory condition for the course admission. Corresponding experience is more preferable requirement. Please consult your training provider additional instructions.

Note: In comparison to IWCF certification scheme  in IADC WellSharp certification program Drillers and Supervisors are never taught together.

Duration: 5 days.

Validity:  2 years
