The Helideck Emergency Response Team Member (HERTM) training is developed by OPITO specialists in order to provide offshore personnel appointed as Helideck Assistants (HDA) with vital experience of emergency response in case of helicopter or Helideck emergencies.

Objective:

• After successful completion of the training delegates will fully realize the role of the Helideck Emergency Response Team Member (HERTM) and his duties and responsibilities;
• Possess essential knowledge to cope with various emergencies that might occur in connection with helicopter transfer to the offshore installation;
• Acquire valuable hands-on helicopter and Helideck fire-fighting practice; experience of crash emergency response and evacuation assistance.

Course content:

• General information including duties and responsibilities of HERTM;
• Helideck layout and emergency systems;
• Possible Helideck emergencies on different installations;
• Helideck and helicopter fire-fighting operations;
• Evacuation, search and rescue procedures;
• First aid and casualty management;
• Normally Unattended Installations (NUI) emergence response.

Assessment: As course puts the premium on practical training, assessment is conducted through the direct observation during exercises and short oral or written examination.

Target Audience: Offshore personnel appointed to work as Helideck Assistants (HDA) and Helicopter Landing Officers (HLO) moving towards their Helicopter Emergency Response Team Leader (HERTL) competency.

Pre-requisites: None, but medical certificate.
