The Electronic Navigation Systems also known as Electronic Navigation Aids course is provided in many training centers to promote the advanced understanding of the navigational equipment among deck officers of all levels to ensure safe and efficient navigational operations.

Objectives:

Students who complete Electronic Navigation Systems course successfully will be able to use all kinds of electronic navigational equipment to its full capacity including Radar/ARPA, GPS, ECDIS systems, vessel control and sensors. Participants also learn to identify the systems’ limitations and can plan voyage with their help and fix the position.

Course content:

• Introduction to Electronic Navigational Systems;
• Vessel controls and basic sensors;
• Radar and ARPA;
• GPS and DGPS;
• ECDIS systems;
• Voyage planning and position fixing.

Target Audience: Junior deck officer, Deck ratings keeping navigational watch, cadets and trainees.

Pre-requisites: Basic knowledge in Celestial Navigation, some sea-going experience is necessary.

Duration: 5 days.
