AGT 2The Authorized Gas Tester Level 2 (OPITO) training is developed for personnel assigned to perform gas tests for flammable gas in preparation for hot work. Course provides comprehensive overview of legislative, operational and safety requirements associated with gas detection for hot work together with necessary equipment and results interpretation techniques.

Objective:

Among the key objectives of the Authorized Gas Tester Level 2 (OPITO) training are the following points:

• Familiarization with the basic principles of gas detection for hot work;
• Revision of atmospheric measurement procedures and types of detectors;
• Obtaining of Gas Testing for Hot Work practical skills;
• Being able to interpret and report measurements results correctly.

Course content:

• Confined space and basic principles of hot work testing;
• Hazards associated with abnormal/toxic atmosphere in a working environment;
• Risk assessment;
• Organizational, statutory and operational requirements for hot work gas testing;
• Permit to Work system;
• Hazards connected with the vapor clouds at a hot work site;
• Selection, pre-start checking and set up of various gas detectors;
• Introduction to flammable and toxic gases;
• Performing test in sequence, obtaining a representative sample;
• Safety standby duties;
• On-going monitoring detectors location;
• Interpretation of results.

Assessment: there will be a written Final Assessment at the end of the course. The paper includes 18 questions to be completed within 120 minutes. Delegates must achieve 100% score to obtain the OPITO certificate.

Important: This course allows 2 additional remediation attempts at the assessment if the delegate fails at the first attempt with the score between 80 – 99%.

Target Audience: Offshore personnel employed for the role of Authorized Gas Tester.

Pre-requisites: None.

Duration: 2 days.

Validity:  3 years.

Note: To upgrade qualification students can progress to Authorized Gas Tester Level 3 (AGT3) course.
