ADAS Occupational SCUBA Part 1 Course

The ADAS Occupational SCUBA Part 1 is a basic course delivering an Occupational SCUBA to 30 m qualification in accordance with ADAS (Australian Diver Accreditation Scheme). This is the first level of certification as commercial diver suitable for police operations, archeological and cultural projects, engineering and environmental inspections and media.

Objective:

After the completion of the ADAS Occupational SCUBA Part 1 training participants are able to scuba dive down to 30 meters, perform hyperbaric operations, use necessary hand tools as well as employ Nitrox air blend, Kirby Morgan helmet, etc. for any underwater operation (expect those requiring surface controlled power tools or overhead lifting, etc).

Course content:

• Physiological processes during SCUBA diving, physics of SCUBA diving;
• Hazards involved in occupational diving, planning of dives;
• Occupational Health and Safety legislation connected with commercial diving;
• Pre-dive preparations for SCUBA dive operations;
• Conducting various commercial dives;
• Hyperbaric operations;
• Emergency procedures in SCUBA diving and first aid to the casualty;
• Practical dives using Nitrox enriched air (optional).

Target Audience: SCUBA divers who would like to build a career in commercial diving.

Pre-requisites:

• Internationally recognized recreational SCUBA diver certificate; minimum 10 logged dives undertaken since receiving certification and within 6 months of commencing the ADAS training course.
• Diver’s Medical certificate;
• Internationally acknowledged valid Basic First Aid with and Advanced Resuscitation and CPR and O2 management certificate (within 12 months) from Red Crescent/St. John Ambulance or equivalent organization.

Note: The ADAS Occupational SCUBA Part 1 might be taken simultaneously with the ADAS Occupational SSBA Part 2 course .

Duration: 4 weeks.
