Confined Space Entry
The Confined Space Entry training is designed for a wide range of personnel required to work in, manage and supervise operations in a confined space. The course defines this phenomenon and observes hazards connected with it; provides knowledge for planning a safe entrance to and egress from a confined space as well as for organization of the safe operations there.
Objectives:
The expected outcomes of the Confined Space Entry course are:
• Delegates are able to define a confined space, identify its hazards and perform risk analysis within the terms of their workplace;
• Conduct pre-entrance planning and assessment;
• Manage confined space entry;
• Use safety equipment and clothing competently;
• Know the permit system and operate within its terms;
• Perform regular atmosphere gas testing.
Course content:
• Legislative framework, Confined Space Regulation 2001, Confined Space Code 2010;
• Specific duties and responsibilities of the personnel (workers, managers, supervisors) performing confided space entry;
• Hazards associated with a confided space and risk assessment;
• Work Permits, Method Statements, Isolation and Confided Space Entry Procedures;
• Emergency egress and rescue procedures;
• Gas and atmospheric testing devices;
Assessment: Written assessment and continual observation during practical training.
Target Audience: Offshore personnel required to work, manage or supervise operation in a confided space.
Duration: 1 – 2 days.
Pre-requisites: None.
Validity: 3 years.
Note: To stay up-to-date with confined space safety requirements and emergency response techniques regular attendants are advised to continue training with the Confined Space Rescue training.
