LCHS Chemical TankerThe Liquid Cargo Handling Simulator (Chemical) course is specifically designed for Deck Officers serving on chemical tankers. The syllabus contains variety of topics such as intricate features and operational aspects of the chemical product cargo system; ballast and stability matters, MARPOL and other environmental regulations, etc.

Objective:

Upon the completion of the Liquid Cargo Handling Simulator (Chemical) training delegates:

• Will acquire profound knowledge of the chemical tanker layout and practical skills in its equipment operation;
• Gain complex understanding of the industry and company regulations concerning cargo and ballast water handling;
• Obtain comprehensive practical training in cargo handling i.e. loading, unloading including simultaneous operations; terminal procedures;
• Get practical knowledge in development of cargo and ballast plans, performing necessary stability calculations;
• Learn to perform inerting of cargo tanks and pipelines, pre-wash and tank cleansing procedures according to MARPOL standards;
• Possess sufficient knowledge of gas detection equipment to perform tanks atmosphere control.

• Chemical tanker design and equipment;
• Familiarization with cargo handling system;
• Cargo operations – practical training;
• Relevant guidelines and regulations;
• Ballast system simulator practice;
• IGS system practice;
• Safety procedures and emergency response.

Target Audience: Deck and cargo officers aboard of chemical tankers.

Pre-requisites: Previous tanker experience.

Duration: 5 days.
