The program of the High Speed Man Overboard Boat Coxswain course complies with the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association guidelines and is targeted at personnel of offshore vessels and installations designated to take charge of small high speed crafts in case of man overboard emergency situations.

Objective:

On completion of the High Speed Man Overboard Boat Coxswain training delegates will be competent in launching and operating a HSMOB or FRC, planning and conducting search and rescue operations including communications management and casualty care.

Course content:

• Planning of SAR operations;
• Preparation and launching of the High Speed Man Overboard Boat;
• Navigation and recovery;
• Search pattern development;
• Communications between a boat and installation/vessel;
• Casualty management, first aid to man overboard – hypothermia, effects of immersion, drowning;
• Use of Navigational aids.

Target Audience: Personnel of rigs, installations and offshore vessels in particular in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea who are designated as HSMOB coxswains.

Pre-requisites: Valid VHF restricted operator’s license or GMDSS Short Range Certificate.

Duration: 4 days.

Validity: 2 years.
