In an offshore industry escape chutes are used as an emergency exits from the mobile installation and vessels. So, OPITO has developed an addition Escape Chute Training (ECT) which contains detailed information about escape chute systems and instructions of their operation.

Objectives:

The aim of the training is to provide students with an understanding of the safe operation of the escape chute; acquaint them with different types of the system and ensure that much practice is completed in the aspect of entering and exiting an escape chute.

Course content:

• Introduction to the technology of the escape chute;
• Various types of escape chute systems;
• Entering an escape chute;
• Evacuation from escape chute;

Assessment: There is a continual assessment throughout a practical part of the course.

Target Audience: Offshore personnel requiring ECT as an additional competence.*

Note*: Escape Chute Training (ECT) certificate is a compulsory requirement for the work in the UK and Norwegian offshore sector under the Mutual Recognition of Basic and Refresher Safety and Emergency Preparedness Training Agreement between Oil & Gas UK, Norsk Olje og Gass (Norway), Olie Gas Danmark (Denmark) and NOGEPA (Netherlands).

Pre-requisites: None.

Duration**: 2 hours.

Note**: The training is often included in the program of other Offshore Survival Trainings.

Validity: 4 years.
