Gas Metal Arc Welding Course
The Gas Metal Arc Welding Course introduces delegates to the welding method most commonly used on modern vessels. The working principle is based on the electric arc established between a consumable wire electrode and the workpiece. During the training participants familiarize with the SMAW process, equipment and safety precautions necessary for the efficient welding.
Objective:
After the Gas Metal Arc Welding Course delegates will:
• Recognize safety measures required for the safe gas metal arc welding (GMAW) on board;
• Successfully perform basic welding onboard utilizing GMAW equipment;
• Possess knowledge to select, handle, store consumables for the GMAW equipment;
• Perform basic cutting, gauging and brazing operations as per course program.
Course content:
• Safety rules and regulations in connection with Gas Metal Arc Welding;
• Principle and process of GMAW;
• Equipment and consumables used in the GMAW;
• Exercises in SMAW, cutting, brazing and gauging.
Target Audience: Ratings and Marine Engineers requiring basic welding skills.
Pre-requisites: None.
Duration: 3 – 5 days.
