Tropical Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (THUET)
The aim of Tropical Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (THUET) training is to provide offshore and marine personnel who travel by helicopter fairly regularly with the sufficient training in pre-flight and in-flight requirements and emergency response skills that would be vital in case of helicopter emergency in the tropical area with the focus on water ditching.
Objectives:
• Demonstrate during simulator exercises the ability and knowledge of actions in preparing for and, in particular, helicopter escape techniques after water ditching.
• Demonstrate high level of sea survival skills.
Course Content:
• Pre boarding briefing;
• Safe boarding procedures;
• In-flight safety procedures;
• Safety during disembarkation;
• In-flight emergency scenarios;
• Helicopter abandonment theory and practical simulator exercises;
• Sea survival training, mustering of survival craft, actions as a passenger;
• Use of helicopter rescue strops and winching procedures.
Target Audience: Offshore personnel and seafarers travelling regularly to worksites by helicopters in tropical areas.
Pre-requisites: None.
Validity: 4 years.
