The purpose of the ISM Code Familiarization for Officers training is to provide marine and offshore vessel officers with an all-round understanding of their role in the implementation of the International Safety Management Code (ISM) onboard of their vessels.

Objective:

Upon completion of the ISM Code Familiarization for Officers delegates will achieve the following learning outcomes:

• Obtain comprehensive knowledge of the ISM code and related maritime regulations and guidelines;
• Recognize their duties and responsibilities in relation to implementation of ISM Code requirements onboard;
• Adhere to principles of the SMS, SOLAS, MLC, etc. whenever onboard;
• Communicate professionally with internal and externals auditors, prepare for ISM/ SMS and other inspections and audits.

Course content:

• ISM Code milestones and basic principles;
• Associated maritime laws and regulations;
• Main ISM Code requirements – implementation guidelines;
• ISM Code certification and verification;
• ISM/SMS audits – internal and external, process, procedures and tools;

Target Audience: Nautical and Engine Room officers.

Duration: 1 day.
