FOET with CA-EBS
The aim of the FOET with CA-EBS course is to refresh practical knowledge acquired during the Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) which delegates didn’t have a chance to train during routine safety exercises on board or on the offshore installations with the focus on the Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) exercises.
Objectives:
After the successful completion of the FOET with CA-EBS training participants will be able to:
• Demonstrate sufficient helicopter safety skills i.e. following emergency pre-planning procedures performing effective helicopter escape after ditching;
• Identify the differences between EBS equipment and operate CA-EBS system professionally;
• Operate safety and firefighting equipment competently;
• Perform self rescue from smoked filled room safely;
• Demonstrate efficient sea survival and first aid techniques.
Course Content:
• HUET module:
– Emergency helicopter procedures and preparation for ditching or emergency landing;
– Practical exercises in helicopter escape after helicopter ditching or emergency landing;
– Differences between re-breather and Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System, donning of CA-EBS equipment and life-jacket.
• Fire Fighting and Self Rescue theory refresher session and practical tasks:
– Use of portable extinguishers;
– Operation of fixed hose reels;
– Self rescue in a low visibility and completely obscured visibility.
• Sea survival and first aid practices.
Target Audience: Offshore personnel requiring revalidation of their BOSIET or FOET certificates who are transferred by helicopters equipped with CA-EBS equipment.
Pre-requisites: Valid OPITO approved BOSIET /TBOSIET or FOET /TFOET certificate as well as BOSIET with CA-EBS/TBOSIET with CA-EBS or FOET with CA-EBS /TFOET with CA-EBS and medical fitness certificate*.
Note: Please note that starting from 26th of March 2018, OPITO implements new entry requirements for the CA-EBS training programs. The full OGUK medical and OGUK ‘fit to train’/’not fit to train’ certificates will be required. For more information, please refer to OPITO Category-A-EBS- FAQ.
Validity: 4 years.
Important: There are additional requirements for FOET certificate to work in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The Escape Chute Training (ECT) might be required; please refer to the Mutual Recognition of Basic and Refresher Safety and Emergency Preparedness Training agreement, Annex B for the further guidance.
