The purpose of the Dynamic Positioning Maintenance (DPM) course is to provide basic technical training for the personnel designated to perform maintenance of the DP system onboard.

Objectives:

• Induct students about DP system configuration, integral parts, types, operation.
• Provide participants with skills to perform periodic maintenance and troubleshooting by identifying faulty unit and replacing it with spares in stock onboard.
• Familiarize with DP system documentation to set out proper communication between onboard engineers and service personnel of DP system manufacturer onshore.

Course Content:

• DP Systems, their configuration, components and class requirements;
• Cable layouts of DP System;
• Ancillary equipment; sensors, position reference systems, propulsion, power management system;
• Operator station, function, backup/restore, alarm system;
• Process station, function, system interface, practical exercises;
• Current maintenance and emergency troubleshooting.

Assessment: There is no specific assessment procedure after the Dynamic Positioning Maintenance (DPM) training.

Target Audience: Engineers and ETOs who will be responsible for the maintenance of DP system.

Pre-requisites: Participants should possess some technical background and understand electronics. Some centers also require DP Basic or DP Familiarization Course Certificates.
