The Working at Height – Unit 4 Management of Working at Height course is developed for supervisors and managers allocated to control working at height operations in the offshore and wind industries. The training is a blend of theory and practical training called to explain participants their roles and responsibilities; educate about guiding legislative acts; train to measure risks and distribute tasks accordingly.

Objective:

The key goal of the Working at Height – Unit 4 Management of Working at Height course is a provision of theoretical knowledge of safety requirements to the working at height operations stated in the industry regulations as well as intensive practical training targeted to ensure that delegates are able to perform their duties as managers and supervisors up to the required standards.

Course content:

• Industry legislation, including The lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998, The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, The Working At Height Regulations 2005.
• Work permits systems;
• Safe working system;
• Hierarchy and selection of Working at Height equipment;
• Equipment inspection, use, maintenance, storage rules and records keepings;
• Selection and safe operation of ladders;
• Selection and safe operation of MEWPs (Mobile Elevating Work Platform);
• Correct work positioning;
• Fall prevention and fall restraint;
• Fall arrest;
• Developing emergency and rescue plans;
• Suspension intolerance and rescuing of casualty.

Assessment: the course presupposes written and practical examinations.

Target Audience: Management level personnel involved in working at height operations.

Duration: 1 day.

Validity: 2 -3 years, depending on the training provider’s recommendations.
