The Passage Planning also known as Voyage Planning course is specially developed for navigational officers responsible for this task in order to upgrade their skills and knowledge and ensure accident free operation in deep seas and coastal water areas. The training complies with the requirements of the IMO Resolution A893 (21) Guidelines for Voyage Planning and Section A-VIII/2, Part 2 of the STCW Convention.

Objective:

It is expected that after the Passage Planning course Deck Officers will:

• Demonstrate the profound knowledge of the international laws and regulations attributed to Voyage Planning;
• Develop safe and efficient passage plans for their vessels;
• Use electronic navigational aids effectively;
• Contribute thoroughly to the bridge team operations.

Course content:

• Relevant international regulations;
• Stages and techniques of passage/voyage planning;
• Electronic navigational aids and their role in passage planning;
• Contingency planning.

Target Audience: Operational level deck officers.

Pre-requisites: None.

Duration: 2 days.
