The Towcon RT, AHT Winch – Technical Training is a maintenance course that provides a well-round information about the winch and Towcon RT control and monitoring system as well as operational skills in fault finding and minor trouble-shooting. The training is designed in compliance with GOMO Section 5.4.5.3 (Vessel Winch Operators) requirements and includes massive hands-on practices on winch and the system.

Objective:

Among main objectives of the Towcon RT, AHT Winch – Technical Training are the students familiarization with the functions of the system and its components; proving knowledge on the system adjusting for the most efficient operation on the particular AHTS vessel and finding malfunctions should they occur. During the course delegates also practice in winch shaft arrangement.

Course content:

• Technical description of the winch and Towcon RT system incl. piping diagram, pump and servo units, etc.;
• Operational principles of the system, remote control over winch operations;
• Customizing Towcon RT and basic maintenance procedures;
• Practice tasks in handling the system incl. fault finding, static and dynamic load sensing, brake-coupling-speed-tension, etc.;
• Practice tasks in winch shaft arrangement.

Target Audience: Bridge and Engine officers, any personnel assigned to operate and service Towcon RT system onboard of anchor-handling vessels.

Duration: 3 days.

Note: Another good option is Towcon RT – AHT Winch Operator Training which also describes the Towcon RT winch control system and provides comprehensive simulator and workshop based practical training module. However, the scope of course doesn’t contain maintenance instructions, therefore it is considerably shorter.
