The Ship Simulator and Bridge Teamwork (Refresher Course) should be repeated every five years and consists of a series of practical exercises developed to revive delegates’ knowledge of complicated navigational maneuvers and best industry practices of bridge team work.

Objective:

The key goal of the Ship Simulator and Bridge Teamwork (Refresher Course) is to provide additional experience in ship handling under various conditions and skills of effective team management on the bridge for the safer navigation and less stressful time onboard.

Course content:

• Introduction to the bridge equipment;
• Ship handling and maneuvering;
• Effects of wind, current, shallows, confided waters and heavy load on the vessel’s maneuverability;
• Voyage planning;
• Bridge management;
• Expected attitude and cultural awareness;
• Human error factor, stress and fatigue awareness;
• Decision making skills;
• Crisis management, emergency preparedness.

Target Audience: Deck officers of all levels requiring revalidation of their Ship Simulator and Bridge Teamwork course certificates.

Pre-requisites: valid Ship Simulator and Bridge Teamwork course certificates CoC, minimum 6 month of sea-going experience as an OOW.

Duration: 2 – 5 days.
