The Ship Handling with Bridge Team Management (BTM) course is a useful tool in refreshing essential navigational knowledge as well as obtaining advanced ship maneuvering and bridge personnel management experience. The training is designed in accordance with STCW Sections A-II/1, A-II/2, A-VIII/2, B-I/12 and B-VIII/2 requirements and is recommended for Deck Officers of all ranks.

Objective:

On completion of the Ship Handling with Bridge Team Management (BTM) participants will enhance their skills of vessel control under various navigational conditions and demonstrate impeccable work as a member or leader of the bridge team.

Course content:

• Bridge equipment familiarization;
• Basic ship handling principles review;
• Ship handling maneuvers;
• Wind, current, shallow waters, narrow banks effects;
• Planning and carrying out a voyage;
• Anchoring and single-buoy mooring;
• Human error awareness;
• Bridge team management;
• Emergency planning.

Target Audience: Navigating officers who wish to restore or upgrade their professional capabilities.

Pre-requisites: Minimum 6 month of sea-going experience as an Officer in Charge of Navigational Watch.

Duration: 5 days.
