It is a common knowledge that oil and gas products are often discharged at the open sea. In order to perform Ship-to-Ship Transfer tanker receiving the product must moor to the mother ship. This requires considerable level of expertise from the Master of the mooring vessel. The Ship Handling and Maneuvering When Mooring at Sea (Ship-to-Ship) course provides practical profound simulator training full of navigational techniques employed during mooring at sea operations and ship-to-ship transfers.

Objective:

Upon completion of the Ship Handling and Maneuvering When Mooring at Sea (Ship-to-Ship) training delegates will be able to perform advanced navigational maneuvers safely including mooring tankers of the same and different sizes underway and in static position under various weather conditions.

Course content:

• Review of the main ship handling principles, types of maneuvers, valid international regulations;
• Fenders, their role and capabilities;
• Interaction and ship-to-ship maneuvers;
• Underway and static mooring;
• Different size and same vessel size mooring;
• Weather, shallow and restricted waters effects;
• Tandem mooring operations;
• Practical exercises.

Target Audience: Tanker officers.

Pre-requisites: Previous navigational experience will be helpful.

Duration: 3 – 5 days.
