The goal of the Offshore First Aid Refresher course is to update delegates’ skills and knowledge of offshore health emergency handling. The course program incorporates theoretical and practical sessions and puts the premium the management of unconscious casualties and basic life support techniques.

Objective:

The key learning objective of the Offshore First Aid Refresher training is to ensure the high level of medical assistance on offshore installations worldwide. Upon completion of the course delegates are expected to perform offshore first aid promptly and professionally; handle unconscious casualties and provide adequate response to most common offshore medical emergencies.

Course content:

• Principles of the First Aid;
• Basic life support, CPR, defibrillators;
• Injuries to bones, muscles and joints;
• Assessment and treatment of wounded, bleeding or shocked casualties;
• Unconscious casualty;
• Hypothermia, Hyperthermia, effects of immersion;
• Treatment of poisons that might be encountered offshore;
• Dressings and suturing;
• Burns and eye injuries;
• Smoke or toxic gases inhalation treatment;
• Assessment and treatment of common and major illnesses;
• Helicopter transfer techniques;
• Communication during the emergency;
• Record keeping and emergency equipment using.

Assessment: There is a written assessment at the end of the course.

Target Audience: Holders of the initial Offshore First Aid certificate who would like a revalidation.

Pre-requisites: Valid Offshore First Aid certificate.

Duration: 2 days.
