The NOGEPA 2.3A Coxswain Man Overboard Boat course is developed for Oil&Gas offshore personnel appointed as crewmembers of Man Overboard Boat (MOB) on installations or vessels. During theoretical sessions delegates learn technical equipment of MOB while practical exercises are devoted to search and rescue operations from the boats.

Objective:

On completion of the NOGEPA 2.3A Coxswain Man Overboard Boat training delegates will be able to:

• Launch and operate MOB from offshore installations and vessels in order to recover man fallen overboard;
• Sail a boat safely using a compass and devices present on board;
• Develop efficient search patterns using PLB;
• Approach a man in water safely;
• Extent first medical aid adequate to the casualty.

Course content:

• Maintenance of MOB– boat and regular checking;
• Sailing a MOB–boat, using compass and navigational devices;
• Getting a near-drowning person on board;
• Launching a boat, carrying out SAR operations, getting MOB- boat back onboard procedures;
• Righting a capsized MOB-boat procedure;
• Search patterns by means of PLB.

Target Audience: Offshore personnel designated as coxswains of MOB-boat.

Pre-requisites: Valid offshore medical certificate.

Duration: 2 days.

Validity: 2 years.
