Another specific Marlins test operates within the offshore vocabulary. The Marlins English Language Test for Offshore Workers is suitable for all level of personnel from support staff to senior management as well as for marine and onshore oil&gas workers.

Similar to standard ISF Marlins English Language Test, the Marlins English Language Test for Offshore Workers consists of 85 questions which are subdivided into 5 groups. Despite the strong emphasis on the oil&gas specific vocabulary and grammar, the test in focused on assessment of language skills rather than on technical knowledge.

Test categories:

• Listening comprehension (28 questions);
• Grammar (28 questions);
• Vocabulary (17 questions);
• Reading (1 questions);
• Time and numbers (6 questions).

Assessment: the total result is calculated as an overall percentage of all questions.  Students are given 60 minutes for test completion. However, license doesn’t expire after that time.

Note: Students may return to change question answer at any time during test completion as well as fill in the unanswered question.

Target Audience:  Oil&Gas personnel of all levels working both offshore and at onshore worksites.
