LNG familiarizationThe Liquefied Gas Tanker Familiarization course also known as the Basic Training for Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations is developed to provide basic understanding of cargo operations and safety procedures attributed to liquefied gas carriers. The training program complies with the requirements of Section A-V/1-2, paragraph 1, Table A-V/1-2-1 of STCW Convention 1995.

Objective:

The expected learning outcomes of the Liquefied Gas Tanker Familiarization course include:

• Familiarization with the Liquefied gas cargo physical and chemical properties;
• Recognition of potential environmental dangers and health hazards that this types of cargo might inflict;
• Obtaining knowledge of safe and efficient LNG/LPG cargo handling operations;
• Introduction to tanker fire fighting and emergency systems.

Course content:

• Theory of liquefied gas cargo: terminology, physical and chemical properties;
• Hazards of LNG/LPG cargo;
• Types of liquefied gas carries and containment systems;
• Cargo handling equipment/systems;
• Fire fighting and pollution prevention procedures;
• Emergency response and safety operations;
• Tank atmosphere control, gas measurement devices, inerting.

Target Audience:  Officers and ratings assigned to work on board of LNG/ LPG tankers.

Pre-requisites: Valid Basic Safety Training (BST) certificate.

Duration: 2 – 5 days.
