The ECDIS Type Specific (Kelvin Hughes) course acquaints bridge personnel with the navigational capabilities of the Kelvin Hughes MantaDigital ECDIS. The training consists of theoretical and practical modules and can be taken in one of the accredited training centers, online, as an e-learning course or onboard.

Objective:

It is expected that on completion of the ECDIS Type Specific (Kelvin Hughes) training delegates will operate Kelvin Hughes ECDIS system professionally i.e. be able to switch on and set it up; use MantaDigital ECDIS during the passage efficiently manipulating charts and getting sensors data on the display. Moreover, as a result of the course successful students will recognize system alarms; perform chart maintenance and necessary system upgrades.

Course content:

• Man-machine interface;
• Analysis of the functionality of the Kelvin Hughes ECDIS;
• Watchkeeping with the system;
• Chart Work;
• Radar and AIS on ECDIS display;
• Chart and Backup Management;
• Alarms;
• License update.

Target Audience:  Marine and offshore deck officers, pilots assigned to work on vessels furnished with Kelvin Hughes ECDIS system.

Pre-requisites: valid ECDIS Course (Generic) certificate.

Duration: 13 days.
