The IWCF Drilling Well Control Level 2 course provides a well-round understanding of well control including complex of measures to maintain it and indicators that well control might be lost. Also, training focuses on hazards of well control loss and the procedures of its regaining.

Objective:

Among the key objectives of the IWCF Drilling Well Control Level 2 course are the following:

• Recognition of risks of well control loss;
• Comprehensive knowledge of signs which might indicate abnormal pressure;
• Correct operation in case of kick indicators are present;
• Understanding of bop equipment functions;
• Selection of correct method to regain well control;
• Correct completion of IWCF surface and/or subsea kill sheet;
• Kill mud weight calculations performance;
• Understanding of shut in pressure and barrier concepts;
• Operations with cement pumping and well control.

Course content:

• Basic principles of well control;
• Risk and hazards, risk assessment;
• Hydrostatic and Formation pressures;
• Primary and Secondary well-control;
• Well control equipment, surface and subsea tools;
• Well barrier concept;
• Kick causes and detection;
• Influx phenomena;
• Well control methods and procedures;
• Inflow testing.

Assessment: Upon completion of the IWCF Drilling Well Control Level 2 course students should pass a written IWCF test with minimum score of 70%.

Target Audience: Progressing junior drilling personnel, professional drillers and supervisors requiring revalidation of certificates.

Pre-requisites: Candidates with initial IWCF certificates or analogues, drillers and supervisors with expired certificates.

Duration: 4 days.
