International Minimum Industry Safety Training (IMIST) OPITOObjective:

The key objective of the International Minimum Industry Safety Training (IMIST) training is to introduce new starts to the Oil and Gas industry to the safety procedures at the worksite and provide comprehensive overview of potential hazards that might be encountered there.

Course Content:

• Introduction to the hazardous environment;
• Induction into Risk Assessment and completion of risk matrix;
• Permit to Work and situations when its required;
• Working safely including knowledge of Safety Observation Systems;
• Control of hazardous substances;
• Short course of Manual Handling Techniques;
• Working at Height Awareness;
• Mechanical Lifting Practices including special communication techniques.

Target Audience: New comers to the Oil and Gas industry requiring basic safety knowledge for the accident free and conscientious work offshore.

Pre-requisites: There are no pre-requisites for the International Minimum Industry Safety Training (IMIST) training.

Validity: 4 years.

Note: Holders of IMIST certificate wishing to revalidate it can do it by completing the CBT version of the International Minimum Industry Safety Training.
