The purpose of the ISM and ISPS Internal Auditor training is to introduce participants to the content of the International Safety Management and the International Ship and Port Facility Security Codes and develop practical auditing skills. The course program includes lectures, group discussions, presentations, case studies, practical tasks and on-going assessments.

Objective:

Through the interactive learning process delegates of the ISM and ISPS Internal Auditor training will achieve the following learning outcomes:

• Obtain overall understanding of the ISM and ISPS codes principles;
• Recognize mechanisms of ISM and ISPS principles implementation into the Safety Management System and ways for its continual improvement;
• Acquire skills and instruments for an effective internal auditing of the SMS against ISM and ISPS codes standards.

• ISM and ISPS codes as management systems;
• Main principles of the ISM and ISPS codes;
• Safety and security management in shipping industry;
• Objectives of the internal audit;
• Planning and preparation for the internal ISM/ISPS audit;
• Audit procedure and techniques;
• Communication during the audit;
• Reporting, non-conformance and corrective actions.

Assessment: the course concludes with the written examination.

Target Audience: DPA, Quality and Safety Managers and other related personnel of shipping companies.
