IMCA Trainee Bell Diving Supervisor Course

The IMCA Trainee Bell Diving Supervisor training provides an option for a career development for experienced bell divers and Air Diving Supervisors. The course program incorporates theoretical and practical sessions and is developed in compliance with the IMCA DO13 standard ‘IMCA Offshore Diving Supervisor and Life Support Technician Schemes’.

Objective:

The key objective of the IMCA Trainee Bell Diving Supervisor is to introduce participants to the duties and responsibilities of the Bell Diving Supervisor including intricacies of equipment, diving medicine and leadership and management aspects.

Course content:

• Diving physiology and anatomy;
• Dive systems review;
• Legislation and guidelines;
• System monitoring, situational awareness;
• Hygiene;
• Chamber procedures;
• Bell handling;
• Gas mixtures;
• Diving emergencies and evacuation;
• Diving medicine;
• Supervision and management of dive team;
• Life support duties under pressure.

Assessment: Certificate of completion will be issued after the successful passing of the in-house examination. The IMCA model 2 examination should be passed to obtain the official Bell Diving Supervisor qualification. The exam is passed after the accumulation of the required offshore hours.

Target Audience: Experienced bell divers and Air Diving Supervisors who would like to develop their career.

Pre-requisites: Competent closed bell/mixed gas diver with a completed 400 lockout hours; AND passed IMCA Trainee Air Diving Supervisor course; and AND possessing IMCA recognized surface supplied diving qualification.

Duration: 5 days.
