The IADC WellSharp Drilling / Completion / Workover / Well Control – Surface and Subsea (Supervisor) course provides an in-depth analysis of well intervention methods including drilling operations, completion process and post-completion wellbore enhancement procedures.

Objective:

The key objective of the IADC WellSharp Drilling / Completion / Workover / Well Control – Surface and Subsea (Supervisor) training is to obtain advanced knowledge of every stage of well intervention procedure and offshore drilling process in order to regain control quickly and effectively in case of unpredicted kick.

Course content:

• Basic principles and calculations;
• Origin of kick and its detection;
• Gas behavior in the wellbore;
• Well kill operations;
• Completion procedures and workover fluids;
• BHP and well control techniques;
• Well control complications and ways to regain control;
• Well control equipment – surface and subsea;
• Coiled Tubing, Snubbing and Wireline;
• Subsea problems;
• Methods to kill a producing flowing well;
• Simulator practices.

Assessment: Assessment for IADC WellSharp Drilling / Completion / Workover / Well Control – Surface and Subsea (Supervisor) certificate includes written and simulator tasks. Three written papers must be completed with the minimum 70% score. Candidates may choose either “Combined” (Surface and Subsea) or “Surface only” BOP stack certification scheme.

Target Audience: This course will be useful for the senior drilling crew such as Toolpushers, Drillers, Floor Managers, Supervisors and on-shore management personnel of drilling companies as well as well designers.

Pre-requisites: the availability of IADC WellSharp Introductory or Driller level certificate or their equivalents will be an advantage, but is not the mandatory requirement; previous drilling experience is a more desirable value in an applicant.
