The Helicopter Refueling training is developed in order to ensure that helideck personnel involved in refueling of helicopters and helifuel storage or testing are familiar with the correct international safety procedures.

Objectives:

The basic course goals are to teach delegates to:

• Handle helicopter refueling system competently and be able to identify its parts and their functions;
• Test helifuel for contamination and safety to use in helicopter;
• Perform routine bonding, start up/shut down of the refueling system, some current maintenance;
• Carry out helicopter refueling both by gravity and pressure methods;
• Complete necessary reports according to the international or regional guidelines.

Course content:

• Input data including fuel specifications, chemical features and other general information;
• Types of helicopters used for offshore operations and their attributed safety features;
• Fuel quality control procedures, coping with contamination;
• Filter water separators and fuel monitors;
• Routine helifuel check procedure;
• Practical exercises in fuel sampling and helicopter refueling with the help of fuel pump system.

Assessment: there is a written exam at the end of the course. Also, delegates have to demonstrate correct procedure of fuel testing and refueling to obtain a certificate.

Target Audience: Helideck personnel assigned with helicopter refuelling duties.

Pre-requisites: None.

Duration: 0.5 – 1 day.

Validity: No expiry date*.

Note*: Although, at present there are no mandatory industry regulations for the validity of Helicopter Refuelling certificates; industry practice recommends schedule revalidation every 2 years.
