The aim of the GWO Working at Heights Refresher training is to revive existing safety knowledge acquired during the initial GWO Working at Heights BST course; and expand the obtained skills building up the new competences in the areas of equipment handling and rescue procedures.

Objectives:

The key objective of the GWO Working at Heights Refresher training is to restore the qualification of wind installation professionals in the spheres of working at heights national and global legislation, occupational hazards and methods of protection; PPE and correct handling procedures i.e. pre-use inspections, donning, operation and storage. Finally, the course features the WTG and tower rescuing techniques and emergency equipment including rescuing a casualty in reach and out of reach conditions.

Course content:

• Hazards and dangers of working at heights operations in the wind industry;
• Personal safety responsibilities of personnel working at heights at the wind installations;
• Current legislative frame (GWO, RUK, HSW, WAH, MHSW, LOLER, PUWER, PPE 2002, PPE 1992);
• Wind Turbine Safety Rules;
• PPE and WAH safety equipment;
• Safe working practices, practical training;
• Self-rescue procedures;
• Rescue operation of a casualty in and out of reach;
• Ladder safety guidelines.

Assessment: no assessment included.

Target Audience: Personnel of wind installations requiring revalidation of their GWO Working at Heights BST certificates.

Pre-requisites: Valid GWO Working at Heights BST certificate. Furthermore, some providers put the weight limitation for the applicants of no more than 125 kg.

Duration: 1 day.

Validity: 2 years.
