The GWO Sea Survival training is a part of the mandatory GWO Basic Safety Training Module devoted to the development of vital safety skills among the offshore and wind turbines’ personnel. The course consists of theoretical and practical parts and requires continual revalidation through the GWO Sea Survival Refresher training.

Objective:

Upon the successful completion of the GWO Sea Survival training students will be able to:

• Identify advantages and disadvantages of different Life-Saving Appliances (LSA), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE ) and Personal Fall Protective Equipment (PFPE) normally used in the renewables industry;
• Recognize dangers of transfers to and from worksite (dynamic and static/ visa versa);
• Demonstrate proficiency whilst following emergency and safety protocols on the site, vessels or WTG;
• In case of emergency perform a rescue of a colleague from a WTG and provide a first medical aid;
• Know the symptoms of hypothermia and be capable of providing first aid to casualty;
• Demonstrate knowledge of SAR operations and GMDSS system;
• Perform individual and collective sea survival techniques.

Course content:

• Wind industry and offshore hazards;
• Life-Saving Appliances (LSA), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE ) and Personal Fall Protective Equipment (PFPE);
• Safety and emergency procedures on wind turbine and offshore installations;
• WTG rescue and first aid;
• Search and Rescue operations, Man Overboard, hypothermia symptoms and treatment;
• Sea survival techniques.

Target Audience: Offshore and Renewables industry personnel.

Pre-requisites:Medical fitness certificate and WINDA ID.

Duration: 0.5 days.

Validity: 2 years.
