The GWO Fire Awareness module is a part of the mandatory GWO Basic Safety Training and is available as a separate course or within the framework of the complex training week. The course provides familiarization with possible causes of fire outbreak in WTG, its danger and methods of coping.

Objective:

Upon completion of the GWO Fire Awareness course students will possess sufficient knowledge regarding:

• Mechanisms of fire break-out in a wind turbine;
• Hazards connected with fire on wind turbine;
• Correct way to use fire-fighting equipment;
• Contingency planning and emergency procedures.

Course content:

• Fire Awareness introduction;
• Relevant legislation;
• Fire combustion and spreading on the wind turbine;
• WTG fire prevention and fire fighting;
• Firefighting equipment;
• Practice and evacuation training.

Target Audience: New comers to the wind industry.

Pre-requisites: Medical fitness and WINDA ID.

Duration: ½ day.

Validity: 2 years.
