The G20 Crane Operator Course is developed to provide theoretical background and practical lifting skills for personnel operating fixed hydraulic cranes.

Objectives:

The standard G20 Crane Operator Course deals with relevant legislation, design features and safety aspects of knuckle boom cranes as well as important operational and maintenance matters. Students obtain deep understanding of deck crane operator’s role and his safety responsibilities; use latest simulator facilities to polish their lifting skills.

Course content:

• Crane operator requirements, roles and responsibilities;
• Industry regulations and guidelines;
• Crane and lifting terminology;
• Design and construction features of G20 cranes;
• Fixed hydraulic crane controls and routine operation;
• Lifting operations including lifting of personnel;
• Crane’s safety and emergency systems;
• Maintenance and inspections;
• Practical simulator exercises.

Assessment: the G20 Crane Operator Course presupposes written exam and practical simulator assessment (lifting task).

Target Audience: Personnel wishing to acquire competence in operating fixed hydraulic cranes.

Pre-requisites: Completed module O-1.1 Use of Lifting Gear or its equivalent Banksman and Slinger Course.*

Note: Some training providers don’t announce any pre-requisites for the course at all.

Duration: 5 days.
