First Aid at Work Course

The HSE First Aid at Work course is the UK compulsory training is accordance with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations stating that there should a first aider at any work place. The course can only be conducted at the approved training centers.

Objective:

On completion of the HSE First Aid at Work training participants will appreciate the role of the first aid providers and will be able to extent medical aid in case of most emergency conditions such as asthma, heart attack, stroke, spinal and head injuries, etc.

Course content:

• Role and duties of the first aider;
• Health regulations;
• Emergency management;
• Communication and casualty care;
• Asthma;
• Minor and major bleeding;
• Injuries to bones, muscles and joints;
• Burns and scalds;
• Heart conditions;
• Choking (adults);
• Eye injuries;
• Resuscitation and CPR, defibrillator handling;
• Fainting;
• Head injuries;
• Low blood sugar – first aid;
• Poisoning;
• Seizures (adults);
• Allergic shock;
• Shock;
• Spinal injuries;
• Stroke;
• Unresponsive casualty;
• Transportation of the casualty.

Assessment: there is a written assessment at the end of the training.

Target Audience: Specialists designated to take over first aid provision in the company.

Pre-requisites: None.

Duration: 3 days.

Validity: 1 – 3 years, the certificate is renewed with the First Aid at Work Refresher course.
