The English Course for Maritime Business course is designed for the benefit of employees of shipping companies in order to familiarize them with specific vocabulary, industry guidelines and operational features of the shipping industry.

Objective:

Among the objectives of the English Course for Maritime Business course is introduction to the details of maritime operations; familiarization with basic international nautical regulations such as STCW convention, IMO code, ISPS code and others; providing job guidance and general business English overview.

Course content:

• Introduction to business English (telephone conversations, correspondence, interviews);
• Shipping industry guide: vessel types, onboard and port equipment, types of cargo and cargo operations, kinds of maritime authorities and necessary documents;
• Crew management operations;
• International industry guidelines and regulations (STCW convention, IMO, ISPS, MARPOL, codes, SOLAS convention, etc.);
• Cultural diversity and norm of behavior for different nationalities *(optional).

Assessment:  Internal examination based on the material of the course.

Target Audience: Employees of the shipping companies, crewing and manning agencies.
