Dynamic Positioning Sea Time Reduction
Objectives:
Among key objectives of the Dynamic Positioning Sea Time Reduction course are:
• To reduce time established to acquire DPO certificate by training various DP operations in a carefully simulated environment.
• Upgrade DP Operator’s skills in recognizing emergency situations and coping with them.
Course content:
• Operation of the DP system, analyzing data from PRS and sensors, recognizing alarms and warnings of DP system;
• Simulators exercises: platform supply, offshore construction, ROV, cable and pipe laying, etc. under different weather conditions and with the use of real life DP procedures, communication and checklists;
• DP failures, troubleshooting and emergency procedures.
Target Audience: Masters, Chief Officers and Junior Officers who are willing to work onboard of DP vessels and continue their NI DPO certification scheme.
Pre-requisites: Participants in NI DPO scheme must hold DP Basic (Induction) and DP Advanced (Simulator) Course Certificates. Delegates following NI Shuttle tanker scheme should have their DP Advanced Certificated, confirmed 24 days sea time practice and 2 completed offshore loading operations.
Note: Students who started NI DPO scheme before January 2015 should also have completed their 30 DP Sea Time days practice before applying for the course.
Important: Dynamic Positioning Sea Time Reduction Course provides an optional lift in the NI DPO certification scheme as it is counted as 30 days of sea time on the DP vessel. Nevertheless, upon the successful completion of the training participant of the NI DPO scheme should finish Phase D by serving the remaining 30 days on board of DP equipped vessel.
