Daughtercraft Coxswain
The Daughtercraft Coxswain course is developed for ERRV crew-members designated to operate Daughtercraft. The training is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions aimed at developing safe navigational and search and rescue skills.
Objective:
On successful completion of the Daughtercraft Coxswain course delegates will be able to:
• Prepare, launch and navigate daugthercraft professionally;
• Demonstrate competence in the use of navigational aids e.g. radar, AIS, VHF radio;
• Adhere to safe navigational practices by applying COLREGS;
• Demonstrate profound boat handling techniques.
Course content:
• International regulations for the prevention of collisions at sea;
• Chartwork, chart symbols, buoyage and abbreviations;
• Preparations, launch and handling of Daughtercraft;
• Navigational aids such as radar, AIS, VHF radio.
Target Audience: Personnel designated to act as Daughtercraft Coxswains.
Pre-requisites: Valid Fast Rescue Craft Coxswain certificate.
Duration: 5 days.
Validity: 3 years
