The Crowd Management, Passenger Safety and Safety Training for Personnel Providing Direct Services to Passengers in Passenger Spaces course complies with Section A-V/2, paragraph 2 of the STCW Code and IMO Model Course 1.28 and is mandatory for all personnel working in passenger spaces on board on vessels.

Objective:

The aim of the Crowd Management, Passenger Safety and Safety Training for Personnel Providing Direct Services to Passengers in Passenger Spaces is to ensure that after completion of the course participants will be able to:

• Communicate important safety instructions to passengers in case of emergency onboard;
• Know the location of life-saving appliances and demonstrate their correct usage including donning of life jacket;
• Conduct evacuation of passengers, particularly embarkation and disembarkation of disabled persons and other passengers requiring special assistance;
• Control big mass of people effectively, manage panic and stress;
• Comply with shipboard emergency procedures.

Course content:

• Emergency instructions to passengers with regards to principal nationality language, giving priority to elementary English vocabulary, non-verbal means of communication (hand signals, demonstrations, etc.);
• Life-saving equipment application demonstration;
• Crowd control during emergency onboard;
• Embarkation and disembarkation of the disabled and other passengers requiring special assistance;
• Ship emergency procedures and control plans.

Target Audience: Any personnel providing direct services to passengers in passenger spaces on board of passenger vessels.

Pre-requisites: none at this level.

Duration: 1/2 day.
