The Control Room Operator Emergency Response course is developed in accordance with the OPITO requirements to provide standardized training and assessment for the Control Room personnel responsible for dealing with various types of emergency situations on the offshore installations from the Control Room.

Objective:

It is expected that upon completion of the training and assessment of the Control Room Operator Emergency Response course delegates will manage offshore emergencies competently minimizing damage to people, installation and environment; establishing effective communication and complying with company emergency procedures.

Course content:

• Control Room Operator duties and responsibilities in controlling emergency;
• Emergency response techniques;
• Decision making process;
• Effective communication;
• Procedures and checklists;
• Stress control;
• Practical assessment.

Assessment:

The OPITO assessment includes a practical exercise consisting of a minimum of 2 emergency scenarios. Assessment is conducted in a purpose-built simulator replicating a Control Room of the offshore installation.

Target Audience: Control Room Operators and Control Room Supervisors.

Pre-requisites: Minimum 5 years experience on offshore installation and Basic Offshore Safety Induction Emergency Training (BOSIET) certificate and / or Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET) certificate.

Duration: 1 day.
