This course provides the all-round familiarization with confined space risks and possible control measures putting the premium on the hazardous working conditions that require wearing SCBA. During the Confined Space Entry Awareness with Breathing Apparatus training delegates learn to work with it in a confined space environment whilst discovering its capabilities and limitations.

Objective:

Upon the completion of the course students will be fully aware of the hazards connected with work in a confined space and be able to conduct basic risk assessment and control measures planning. Moreover, by the end of the practical session, participants will master safety equipment required for a successful work in a confined space and emergency exit from it. The particular focus of the Confined Space Entry Awareness with Breathing Apparatus training is SCBA and escape set, so delegates are expected to perform the pre-entry checking, donning and operating the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus without assistance as a result of the course.

Course content:

• Relevant industry regulations;
• Risks associated with entrance/ working in/ egress from a CS;
• Safe working practices;
• Confined space work permits;
• Dangerous atmospheres that might be encountered in a confined space, gas detection devices;
• Control measures and emergency procedures;
• Communication methods;
• Safety equipment used to get access to, work in, escape from a confined space;
• CS rescue equipment familiarization;
• Different types of breathing apparatus used for CS activities;
• Pre-use checking of SCBA;
• Restrictions imposed on using SCBA in a confined space.

Assessment: there is a continual practical assessment during the course.

Target Audience: Personnel that might be nominated to carry out or supervise works in a confined space.

Duration: 1 day.

Validity: no specified validity, but training provider strongly recommends repeating the Confined Space Entry Awareness with Breathing Apparatus course every 2 years.

Note: Upon completion of this training delegates might be interested in a Confined Space Rescue or Confined Space Entry (High Risk) courses for upgrading their qualification.
