Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS)
This training was developed by OPITO specialists in order to ensure that offshore personnel that have to travel by helicopter on the regular basis are familiar with the principles of usage and possible hazards of the Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS).
Objectives:
In order to successfully complete the training and be granted a certificate delegates must:
• Explain the difference between the re-breather and Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS);
• Know the risks associated with the use of CA-EBS;
• Be able to inspect a life-jacket and Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System as a flight preparation procedure;
• Show the correct way of donning a life-jacket and CA-EBS including a ‘buddy neck’;
• Demonstrate the operation of CA-EBS in a simulated helicopter emergency;
Course Content:
• Re-breather and Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) differences in construction and usage;
• Hazards associated with the operation of CA-EBS equipment;
• Pre-flight inspections and donning of life-jacket and CA-EBS;
• Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) operation practical tasks.
Assessment: Delegates are required to demonstrate the correct operation of the CA-EBS system to obtain the certificate.
Target Audience: Offshore personnel who are transferred to their working place by helicopter; and might reserve to the CA-EBS in a helicopter emergency.
Pre-requisites: Valid BOSIET/ FOET/ HUET or T-BOSIET/T-FOET/T-HUET certificate.
Duration*: 1.5 hours.
Note*: Because of the short duration CA-EBS training course is often included into the syllabus of other Offshore Survival Trainings.
